FRIDAY, JANUARY 19, 2024
12:00 pm–5:30 pm

Opening Luncheon

We gather first in the Upper East Side for a cozy French bistro lunch in a classic New York brasserie before venturing to Harlem for an afternoon of exclusive tours at exceptional sites.

The Home of Mr. and Mrs. Carswell Rush Berlin

The Berlin house is a four-story Neo-Renaissance row house in Hamilton Heights with a limestone façade designed by Henri Fouchaux, erected in 1901 on Alexander Hamilton’s property. The house retains many original features, including elaborate mantles with encaustic tile insets, that complement the Berlins’ collection of early-19th-century furniture and decorative arts.

Alexander Hamilton’s Grange

Hamilton commissioned architect John McComb, Jr. to design this elegant Neoclassical country house in upper Manhattan in 1802. Recently moved, renovated, and refurnished, the house is a rare testament to New York’s interpretation of Federal-era architecture and furnishings.

After our afternoon of tours, we return to the Upper East Side to drop participants at the conveniently-located Park Avenue Armory for an independent evening.

SATURDAY, JANUARY 20, 2024
10:00 am–4:00 pm

The Winter Show with Lunch

Our knowledgeable friends in the trade treat participants to private tours of the 70th annual Winter Show at the Park Avenue Armory, in advance of public hours. As the leading art, antiques, and design fair in America, the Winter Show presents over 60 international dealers showcasing a dynamic selection of decorative and fine art from antiquity through the present day. In addition to our private access to the show, we share a congenial lunch in the Armory’s stunning Board of Officers Room.

The Morgan Library & Museum

Following our luncheon, we receive a multifaceted introduction to the Morgan Library & Museum as it celebrates its centennial year. An Italian Renaissance-style palazzo now expanded by several additions, the Morgan began as the personal library of the storied financier, collector, and cultural benefactor J. Pierpont Morgan. Opened to the public in 1924, the library houses a resplendent collection of illuminated manuscripts, early printed books, and old master drawings and prints. In addition to examining the richly decorated interiors of the c. 1906 McKim, Mead & White-designed library, participants are guided through the Morgan’s latest exhibition, Medieval Money, Merchants, and Morality
