STUDY TRIP ABROAD
Join Trust Governor Susan Stein, the Richard Gilder Senior Curator at Monticello, as she leads two unforgettable tours to France, retracing Thomas Jefferson’s travels in 1787 while serving as a minister on behalf of the newly minted United States. Jefferson was an attentive and engaged student of building, landscape, and agriculture (especially viniculture). Guided by his correspondence and diaries, we explore Paris before continuing to southern France, focusing throughout on architecture, decorative arts, interiors, and gardens as well as the Classical sites that captured his interest.
