Masterworks of Modern Design In Canadian Collections and Beyond
Event Details
Join Tim Andreadis as he surveys major developments and touchstones in the field of 20th century decorative arts and design, told through the lens of objects held in Canadian collections and beyond. Periods covered include the Arts & Crafts Movement, Art Nouveau, Pre-War and Post-War Design, the Studio Craft movement, Postmodernism, and Contemporary Design. Canadian, American, and International makers and designers will be highlighted as well as artisans working in wood, metal, glass, precious metals, plastic and synthetic materials.Stephanie Rebick, CSDA board member and Director of Publishing & Content Strategy at the Vancouver Art Gallery, will moderate this session and explore 20th century decorative arts and design with Tim.

Biographies
Tim Andreadis, a graduate of Dartmouth College and the Winterthur Program, is a Senior Design Specialist with Rago Auctions in Lambertville, New Jersey. A specialist in 20th century and contemporary decorative arts, Mr. Andreadis is a passionate advocate for craft and design, particularly ceramic art and studio furniture of the Post War era, including and most notably the work of George Nakashima. With over 20 years of experience in the field of decorative arts, Mr. Andreadis has lectured on aspects of the Arts & Crafts and Studio Craft movements. He has served on the board of the Wharton Esherick Museum and is an active member of the American Ceramics Circle, Oriental Ceramics Society, and Society of Winterthur Fellows. Since 2022, he has appeared as a guest appraiser on PBS’s Antiques Roadshow.
Stephanie Rebick is a curator, editor, writer, Director of Publishing & Content Strategy at the Vancouver Art Gallery, and frequent collaborator with Information Office, a Vancouver-based art book publisher and design practice. Rebick has curated and co-curated numerous exhibitions, including Modern in the Making: Post-War Craft and Design in British Columbia; MashUp: The Birth of Modern Culture; and Grand Hotel: Redesigning Modern Life. She has contributed to a number of publications, including The Place of Objects: The John David Lawrence Collection *Vancouver Art Gallery and Figure 1, 2025); MashUp: The Birth of Modern Culture (Vancouver Art Gallery and Black Dog, 2016); Grand Hotel: Redesigning Modern Life (Vancouver Art Gallery and Hatje Cantz, 2013); Unreal (Vancouver Art Gallery, 2010). Most recently she has edited volumes on the work of Jan Wade and Omer Arbel.
