BIFMO-FHS Digital Research Programme: Castle Howard & Raby Castle
This online event will showcase recent research on the furniture archives at Castle Howard and Raby Castle. Post-graduate students from Leeds University, Winterthur and the Bard Graduate Center in New York will deliver presentations on their exciting research into two very different projects. Laini Farrare (Winterthur) and Beatrix Henry (Bard) will consider early eighteenth-century chairs in the Castle Howard collection and will be introduced by curator Eleanor Brooke-Peate. The second project recreates the dining room of Cleveland House despite it having been demolished at the beginning of the 20th century. The house was the London residence of the Vane family, who continue to own Raby Castle today. Daniela Diaz Blancarte (Bard) and Yan Sin Leung (Leeds) will describe how they collaborated to recreate the room digitally and will be introduced by curator Lauren Foster.
