Virtual Tuesday Talk— Man Against the Machine: The Life of Tennessee Cabinetmaker Lewis Buckner, 1856-1924
Lewis Buckner is considered one of Tennessee’s premier cabinetmakers of the late 19th century. He lived at the foothills of the Smoky Mountains during a time in which both his craft and his rural community faced the rise of industrialization.
Against these odds, this Black craftsperson made a name for himself using his elaborate designs and fine craftsmanship.
