Mythical Armor Workshop
Mythical Armor Workshop
Saturday, August 30, 2025 • 12:00–2:00 PM • In Person • $20
Join AMOCA for a hands-on armor-making workshop! Participants will have the opportunity to create their own shoulder piece or forearm mythical armor inspired by Cannupa Hanska Luger’s installation This is Not a Snake, and The One Who Checks & The One Who Balances, on view in Making in Between: Indigenous Americans. This piece is built around the waste and leftovers of capitalist exports along with the two warriors dressed in regalia, presenting a fictional narrative of how Indigenous communities practice sustainability in response to environmental crises.
The workshop will begin with an exhibition tour of Making in Between, led by AMOCA’s Exhibition Manager. They’ll offer insights into Luger’s work, followed by the hands-on activity.
To create the mythical armor, participants will use cardboard, tape, glue guns, razor blades, scissors, and felt. The shoulder piece or forearm armor you create in the workshop will be yours to take home with you! All materials are included, and light refreshments will be available.
