Historic Trappe is pleased to offer this introductory workshop led by Gamal Amer, a pewter collector and board member of the Pewter Collectors Club of America. We will explore American pewter and its origins by focusing on examples from the Melvyn and Bette Wolf Collection which will be on view in the exhibition Pewter: An American Story. Participants will learn to identify various forms of pewter and methods of manufacture, regional variations, and the influence of English and German pewter. A close study and interpretation of various pewter hallmarks will also accompany the workshop. Following the workshop, we will  tour the pewter exhibition with Historic Trappe curator Christopher Malone.

There will be a one-hour lunch break; you may bring your own or order from a local restaurant. After lunch, we will take a special tour of the Muhlenberg House, where participants will see antique pewter on display in period room settings along with historic furniture, portraits, silver, and other decorative arts.

Please note: this workshop will be held on the second floor of the Dewees Tavern, which is only accessible by a flight of stairs.
