SOJOURN
July 26–30, 2023
In conjunction with the Decorative Arts Trust’s curatorial fellowship at the Cranbrook Center for Collections and Research, we are organizing a multi-day program focused on early-20th-century architecture, design, and collecting in eastern Michigan. Nina Blomfield, the Decorative Arts Trust-Marie Zimmermann Collections Fellow at Cranbrook, shares her research on the Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Smith House and its rich holdings of 20th-century decorative arts during a day exploring this mecca of modernity. Participants also visit sites illustrating the Detroit area’s divergent interests in historicism and avant-gardism and the local passion for collecting across the cultural spectrum. From the Detroit Institute of Arts to the Henry Ford Museum and the Edsel and Eleanor Ford House to the Pewabic Pottery, this special program incorporates a variety of important stops.
More information about this program will be added soon. As with all our programs, members at the Ambassador and Champion levels receive first opportunity to register. For updates, sign up for our email list and follow us on Facebook and Instagram.
