Decorative Arts and the Market Panel Discussion Featuring Dealers
On June 21, the Trust hosted the second discussion in our series on decorative arts and the market. This conversation featured dealers of decorative arts and antiquities. Benjamin Miller, host of the Curious Objects podcast and Director of Research at S.J. Shrubsole, moderated the discussion, which featured Kim Ahara, Owner, Q Antiques and Design; Pippa Biddle, Co-Founder/Co-Owner, Quittner; Charis Tyndall, Director, Charles Ede Ltd; and Taylor Thistlethwaite, Founder, Thistlethwaite Americana. The conversation ended with a live Q&A from the audience.
The panel represented a wide variety of business models and areas of expertise but shared a sense of optimism about the future of the decorative arts market. They discussed a range of topics, from the mentors who inspired them, to the collecting interest of millennials, to the debate over owning a physical shop in today’s market.
Thank you to The Magazine ANTIQUES for sponsoring this event and to our moderator, Benjamin Miller for compiling a compelling panel of dealers and selecting such thoughtful questions. And thank you to each of the panelists for sharing their experience and perspective.
