Fancy all things British? Join us for a lecture and afternoon tea in Castle Hill’s English -inspired Great House with Curt DiCamillo, author of A British Country House Alphabet – the first volume in a trio of pictorial books highlighting the historical origins of British architectural treasures, common phrases, games, and traditions, including afternoon tea. Did you know that afternoon tea was popularized in England by the 7th Duchess of Bedford at Woburn Abbey?

The program begins at 2pm in the Great House Ballroom, where afternoon tea will be served. During the tea, at approximately 2:30, Mr. DiCamillo will present an illustration-rich talk showcasing some of the houses and stories in his book, followed by a book-signing. Copies of the book will be available for purchase in the Castle Hill Gift Shop. Advance reservations are required, and space is limited to 40. Tickets are $60 for Trustees members, $75 for non-members.

Curt DiCamillo is an architectural historian and authority on British country houses, as well as the Curator of Fine Arts for the New England Historic Genealogical Society in Boston. Mr. DiCamillo also leads scholarly architectural tours of Great Britain and maintains an award-winning database – The DiCamillo Companion to British & Irish Country Houses
