Adam Chau dives deeply into the world of blue-and-white. Submerged in history and culture, this presentation will explore how traditional craft and digital technology can be combined to make porcelain objects. Adam will talk about his studio practice, historic research, and how his career in curation has influenced his approach to contemporary ceramics.
An expert in the field of ceramics, Adam Chau (he/him) blends traditional craftsmanship with cutting-edge technology. With a BFA from Maine College of Art and a Master of Design degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Adam makes contemporary art in his studio in Connecticut and frequently travels for residencies. His work is exhibited globally, earning international acclaim and a robust publication record. Adam received the NCECA Emerging Artist Fellowship in 2018, and he became a member of the International Academy of Ceramics, a UNESCO partner, in 2019.
As a curator, Adam is the Exhibitions Director at ArtsWestchester, New York State’s largest independent arts council; Director of Exhibitions for NCECA; and has an independent practice for traveling exhibitions of contemporary art around the United States.
