Family Workshop: Weaving Stories

Family Workshop: Weaving Stories

by
2 2 people viewed this event.

The process of weaving—individual threads becoming stronger through combination with others —is tied to traditions of storytelling, ancestral connection and personal expression across cultures.

Join AMOCA’s education team in this family-friendly exploration of artist Cannupa Hanska Luger’s work in Making in Between: Indigenous Americans! Through this fun and interactive workshop, guests will learn about Indigenous futures and the importance of upcycling.

Visitors will work with AMOCA’s education manager to learn how to create a diy hand loom and are encouraged to bring in materials from home (old t-shirts, plastic tubes, toys, magazines, newspaper, fabric scraps, fibers, ribbons, flowers, twigs etc!) to contribute to their own personal tapestry.

Registration is $15 ($10 for Pomona Residents or AMOCA Museum Members); children 5 and under may join for free with paying adult.

Your ticket price includes workshop materials, instruction, and museum admission.
