Lunchtime Conversations: Uncovering the Secrets of Wyck’s Chinese Desk
Join Wyck and C. Dallett Hemphill Intern Cristina Freire as we explore the many mysteries behind Wyck’s unique Chinese export desk.
During this virtual program, the speaker will discuss her new research conducted this summer at Wyck, supported by a Dean F. Failey Grant from the Decorative Arts Trust and the C. Dallett Hemphill Internship program of the McNeil Center for Early American Studies at the University of Pennsylvania.
A brief Q&A will follow the lecture. A Zoom link will be emailed to all participants on the morning of the program.
About the Speaker: Cristina Freire is a senior at Montclair State University, where she is majoring in History with a minor in Public and Digital History. Cristina’s passion for working with and researching historic artifacts began at The Charles J. Muth Museum in Paterson, New Jersey, where she currently serves as collections manager. She hopes to continue unearthing the complex narratives embedded in material objects by pursuing a graduate degree in Material Culture. In her spare time, Cristina enjoys working with ceramics, embroidering, crocheting, and making jewelry.
