FUNDING FOR INSTITUTIONS
The Decorative Arts Trust offers funding to cultural institutions such as museums and historical societies through the programs below.
- Publishing Grants up to $50,000 are available for book-length publications tied to collections, exhibitions, and conference papers. Deadline: March 31.
- The Prize for Excellence and Innovation is a $100,000 award given annually for a scholarly endeavor such as a museum exhibition, a conservation or preservation project, or an online database. Deadline: June 30.
- IDEAL Internship Grants up to $5,000 are provided for internships that promote inclusivity, diversity, equity, access, and leadership through museum opportunities designed for undergraduate students. Deadline: August 31.
- Curatorial Internship Grants are two-year grants up to $45,000 per year to underwrite the hiring of a recent Masters or PhD graduate. Deadline: September 30.
- Dean F. Failey Exhibition & Conservation Grants up to $15,000 support noteworthy exhibition and object-based conservation projects. Deadline: October 31.
The Trust serves as a community foundation for the decorative arts and material culture fields by supporting vital and groundbreaking scholarship, including object-based research centered on diverse and inclusive perspectives and marginalized and underrepresented communities. The Trust values the impact of the traditional skills on hands-on close looking and connoisseurship.
