SOJOURN

January 2026

Hear the echoes of Jamaica’s colonial past, from the grand plantation estates to the imposing forts and government buildings that once symbolized British power. Jamaica is known for a confluence of African and British cultures that formed an identity unique to the island nation. The architecture of plantation houses and the homes of the enslaved were influenced by the Georgian style, Spanish architecture, and West African roots. Discover how materials like coral stone and timber were transformed into enduring structures while craftspeople developed unique techniques in ceramics, textiles, and woodworking. During this Sojourn, experts in the field delve into the material culture that peoples from a variety of origins and ethnicities brought to this vibrant crossroads, while we experience the signature cuisine, music, and dance that make the island a must-visit destination.

More information about this program will be added soon. As with all our programs, members at the Ambassador and Champion levels receive first opportunity to register. For updates, sign up for our email list and follow us on Facebook and Instagram.
