GRANTS AND SCHOLARSHIPS FOR EMERGING SCHOLARS AND YOUNG PROFESSIONALS

The Decorative Arts Trust is passionate about encouraging the next generation of museum curators and historians focused on decorative arts and material culture. Our Emerging Scholars Program offers these opportunities for graduate students and early-career scholars:

  • Publishing Grants up to $5,000 are available for book-length academic publications based on completed dissertations or by first-time authors. Deadline: March 31.
  • Research Grants are travel grants up to $2,000 for graduate students working on a Masters thesis or PhD dissertation. Deadline: April 30.
  • Continuing Education Scholarships include funding to attend the Trust’s domestic Symposia and international Study Trips Abroad as well as professional development opportunities through partner organizations. Deadlines vary based on program.

The Trust serves as a community foundation for the decorative arts and material culture fields by supporting vital and groundbreaking scholarship, including object-based research centered on diverse and inclusive perspectives and marginalized and underrepresented communities. The Trust values the impact of the traditional skills on hands-on close looking and connoisseurship.
