2025 New York Antiques Weekend and Colloquium

Antiques Weekend is the Decorative Arts Trust’s annual foray into the hustle and bustle of New York City’s Americana Week. Enjoy exclusive small tours at an enticing variety of noteworthy sites. The focus for our 2025 program is private clubs showcasing important architecture and collections. This popular program sells out quickly, so we encourage you to register early!

FRIDAY, JANUARY 24
9:30 am–6:00 pm

The University Club

Located in an imposing Renaissance Revival building designed by Charles Follen McKim of the renowned architectural firm McKim, Mead & White, this club is known for its majestic interiors, including a grand central hall and lounge and a vaulted library beautifully painted by Henry Siddons Mowbray. The prestigious membership has included prominent intellectuals, business leaders, and public figures.

The Yale Club

The Yale Club is housed in a grand Beaux-Arts structure built in 1915 by architect (and Yale alumni) James Gamble Rogers, better known for pioneering the Collegiate Gothic style. The clubhouse features stunning architectural details throughout and houses an impressive collection of paintings, original furniture by W. & J. Sloane Company, and light fixtures by Edward F. Caldwell & Co. 

New York Yacht Club with Lunch

This iconic Beaux-Arts clubhouse designed by architect Whitney Warren of Warren and Wetmore houses splendid holdings of model ships, maritime art, extravagant silver trophies, and a distinguished sailing library, serving as a hub for yachting enthusiasts and maritime history buffs. We also enjoy an intimate lunch on site.

The Explorers Club

Located in a  Jacobean Revival townhouse built by Joseph Sterner for the family of Stephen C. Clark, the Explorers Club contains one of the world’s most extraordinary collections of artifacts from pioneering expeditions, including Napoleon’s detailed descriptions from his Egyptian campaign, a wide array of specimens from historic scientific ventures, and exploration equipment that has journeyed from the depths of the ocean to the far reaches of space.

The Lotos Club

Established in 1870, the Lotos is one of the oldest literary clubs in the United States. Named after Alfred Lord Tennyson’s poem The Lotos Eaters, the club continues to serve as a gathering place for intellectuals, artists, and writers. The Lotos occupies a turn-of-the-20th-century French Renaissance Revival townhouse built in 1900 by architect Richard Howland Hunt on behalf of Margaret Vanderbilt Shepard where the interiors continue to impress.

Evening Reception

We conclude the day with a reception hosted by our friends at Freeman’s | Hindman, where participants have the chance to unwind, socialize, and admire the gems on display in the firm’s Upper East Side gallery.

The Winter Show at the Park Avenue Armory

Our knowledgeable friends in the trade treat participants to private tours at the Park Avenue Armory in advance of public hours. As the leading art, antiques, and design fair in America, the Winter Show presents over 60 international dealers showcasing a dynamic selection of decorative and fine art from antiquity through the present day. In addition to our special access to the show, we share a congenial lunch in the Armory’s stunning Board of Officers Room.

Private Residence

We have the privilege of touring an 1880s townhouse restored by David Scott Parker Architects and brimming with exquisite Aesthetic Movement furniture, ceramics, paintings, and design elements that offer a glimpse into the opulent tastes of late-19th-century New York. Mr. Parker and his associate John Wasilewski lead this immersive experience, which showcases a historic residence dripping in the ornate style of the era, with densely patterned carpets, wallpapers, and woodwork filling intricately decorated and lavishly appointed rooms.

Terms and Conditions: You must be a Decorative Arts Trust member to register for this program. Members at the Dual level and above may register both household members. Members at the Benefactor level and above may register a nonmember guest. Roundtrip transportation on Friday, January 24 will be provided. All cancellations received through Thursday, January 3, 2025, are subject to a full refund less a $50 administrative fee per person. Refunds will not be remitted for participants canceling after January 3, 2025. The details of this itinerary are subject to change as necessary. If requested, participants are expected to wear face masks.

Brunch Fundraiser for the Decorative Arts Trust’s Emerging Scholars Program

Extend your time with a festive brunch at the nearby East Pole in celebration of our Emerging Scholars Program with the opportunity to toast our speakers and meet fellow decorative arts enthusiasts. All proceeds benefit our Emerging Scholars Program, and registration is fully tax-deductible.

Registration Fees: $25 for the Colloquium only; $150 for the Colloquium and the Brunch Fundraiser
