Women Artists from Antwerp to Amsterdam Virtual Tour
Virtual Tour
Recorded Winter 2025
Register today for this pay-what-you-wish Virtual Tour of Women Artists from Antwerp to Amsterdam, 1600-1750, an enlightening exhibition recently on view at the National Gallery of Women in the Arts. Join Senior Curator Virginia Treanor as she charts a course through Dutch culture at its most vivacious. Although Rembrandt, van Eyck, and Vermeer are household names from this era, this flourishing cultural milieu also contained a movement that art history seems to have forgotten: women artists also built the glittering material world of the early Dutch Republic. Far from being the exception to the rule, women were well-known by their contemporaries and, in many cases, were well paid for their work. This exhibition features masterful paintings, silhouette cuttings in excruciating detail, intricate bobbin lacework, as well as prints and sculptures from more than 40 named women artists. Join us on this remarkable journey as we discover a new Dutch artistic world.
