A Special Program at the Yale Furniture Study

Friday, October 4, 2019

Join the Decorative Arts Trust on October 4th as we take a celebratory tour to mark the opening of the new Leslie P. and George H. Hume Yale American Furniture Study Center. Holding an exceptional collection of colonial and Federal furniture, the Study Center contains over 1,000 examples of wooden objects dating from the 17th through the 21st century. After nearly 60 years in downtown New Haven, the Furniture Study will reopen in its new home at Yale West Campus. Development of the didactic displays was supported by a Dean F. Failey Grant from the Decorative Arts Trust. We will be hosted by Patricia E. Kane, Curator of American Decorative Arts at the Yale Art Gallery, and John Stuart Gordon, Associate Curator of American Decorative Arts. Our day will also include a visit to the nearby Margaret and Angus Wurtele Study Center that houses more than 30,000 three-dimensional objects, including Chinese porcelain and ancient Greek vases. Participants are invited to enjoy coffee and conversation prior to our tours.
