Virtual Americana Week Tours

January 19–21, 2021

This year join the Trust for a special Americana Week program. Although we can’t all be together to enjoy the shows and sales in New York, the Trust is  thrilled to offer a tempting variety of exclusive tours of museums, auction houses, and galleries to deliver all the fascinating finds and sumptuous objects of New York’s Americana Week right to you.

Join us on January 19 for exclusive tours of the showrooms at Christie’s and Sotheby’s. At 12:00 pm ET, we will feature an exclusive tour of Christie’s with John Hays, Deputy Chairman, and Sallie Glover, Junior Specialist, American Furniture and Folk Art. We can’t make any promises, but there may even be a lot about which our own Matthew Thurlow is a specialist. Not to be out done, at 7:00 pm ET Erik Gronning, Sotheby’s Senior Vice President and Head of the Americana Department, and his impressive team will share highlights from what is sure to be an exciting sale.

On January 20 we will air a tour at 12:00 pm ET from Long Island City. Experience a unique look at the Neustadt Collection, one of the premier collections of Louis C. Tiffany’s iconic work including a one-of-a-kind archive of more than a quarter of a million examples of flat glass and glass “jewels” salvaged after the Tiffany Studios closed. Executive Director and Curator Lindsy R. Parrott will share all of the splendour of this remarkable collection. At 7:00 pm ET, we head back to Manhattan for an exciting look at the new Bernard & S. Dean Levy galleries in Chelsea. Frank Levy will introduce his new space and demonstrate his expertise via some fantastic pieces of American art and antiques.

On January 21, we start with a visit to a modern favorite, Hostler Burrows. At 12:00 pm ET Juliet Burrows will lead us through her art and design galleries that specialize in 20th Century and Contemporary Nordic Design with a focus on studio ceramics. We finish our whirlwind of an Americana week with a visit to the Brooklyn Museum at 7:00 pm ET. Catherine Futter, Senior Curator of Decorative Arts, and Elizabeth St. George, Assistant Curator of Decorative Arts, will offer a tour of their exciting Design: 1880 to Now exhibition. The installation draws from the museum’s rich holdings and unveils a suite of newly-renovated galleries. It is sure to be a thrilling end to our series of tours that you won’t want to miss!

Don’t worry if you can’t make every event! With your registration you will also receive links to watch recordings of the tours at your convenience after they air. Please join us, and enjoy the spirit of Americana Week from the warmth and comfort of your home.

Registration Fee: Members $150.00; Non-Members $200.00 (which includes a complimentary membership for 2021)
