Friday, June 22, 2-4 PM

Join Leslie Grigsby, Curator of Ceramics, and Chris Strand, Director of Gardens and Estate for Winterthur Museum, Garden & Library for a fascinating glimpse into the relationship between the decorative arts and the natural world in this year’s stunning headliner exhibits: Dining by Design: Nature Displayed on the Dinner Table and Follies: Architectural Whimsy in the Garden. Winterthur’s first-ever garden exhibition, Follies combines H.F. du Pont’s historic garden structures with specially built installations inspired by historic examples from around the world, from the English floating “Needle’s Eye” to a Turkish tent. Nature remains on view inside, where Dining by Design explores the relationships between the natural world and fine dinnerware fashionable throughout the centuries. This visually enticing exhibit incorporates some of Winterthur’s collection highlights, including rare examples of animal tureens and gorgeous services from Europe, North America, and East Asia.
