SPRING SYMPOSIUM
May 2028
Join us for a spectacular Spring Symposium set in the luminous Lower Hudson Valley, where grand estates and sweeping river vistas reveal a region shaped by centuries of cultural exchange and artistic innovation. Anchored by the Hudson River, the Dutch and British transformed the indigenous Lenape homeland into a colonial corridor for trapping and trade. It flourished in the 18th and 19th centuries under the patronage of assorted Van Rensselaers, Livingstons, Vanderbilts, and Rockefellers, who transformed the landscape into a spectacular showcase of romantic architectural design. Grand interiors contain irresistibly refined collections. This venerable valley also fostered the Hudson River School, whose artists shaped a national vision of naturalistic beauty inspired by the world they saw outside. Through a series of lectures, curator-led tours, and exclusive visits, explore the interplay of art, architecture, and environment which continues to define this remarkable region.
