Join us for the opening reception of Framing American Democracy: Radical Roots, a new exhibition that celebrates the country’s semiquincentennial and the 200th anniversary of the birth of Hartford-born artist, Frederic Edwin Church. This special project both highlights the museum’s unique history with this artist and our institution’s longstanding support of American art and culture. The opening coincides with our monthly First Thursday free program, with a cash bar, live music, and artmaking activities, in addition to remarks by our new President & CEO, Allison Blais, and Director, Matthew Hargraves. That evening celebrates Radical Roots and our two concurrent exhibitions commemorating America’s 250th: Contemporary Artists Reflect and Rebel|Revolt|Resist, the latter presented by the Amistad Center for Art & Culture.
