Try Gyotaku, or traditional Japanese fish printing, in this hands-on art class. Originally used by fishermen to record their catches, Gyotaku has developed into an art form that captures the intricate details and natural patterns of marine life. Be it salmon, shrimp or octopus tenacles, learn to create artwork from your summer catch. Materials included.

After class, be sure to check out Arctic Marine Science: Sikuliaq to Shore, the Anchorage Museum’s exhibition about how physical changes in Arctic waters around Alaska affect marine ecosystems and the coastal communities that rely on the ocean for subsistence hunting and commercial activity.

$35; $30 for members.
