MESDA Summer Institute Final Presentations
Our 49th cohort of Summer Institute Fellows are in the midst of their first day at MESDA and Old Salem. They have selected the objects they’ll research over the next month and will spend the next few weeks developing important research skills and context for their objects. The 2026 Summer Institute emphasizes the objects, buildings, and landscapes of the Fall Line region, as well as the people who created them. Our fellows will do fieldwork, view Fall Line landscapes firsthand, and try their hand at different techniques used in making southern objects. We can’t wait to hear their original research and gain new perspectives on each of these objects.
