Based on research in her forthcoming book, The American Silverscape, Dr. Christine Garnier, assistant professor of art history, University of California, Santa Barbara, will examine how arts of the Gilded Age came to express complicated ideas about politics, extractive industry, and land. Dr. Garnier’s project was supported by a Winterthur Short Term Research Fellowship in 2025.
