Porcupine quills have long been used to create decorative patterns on Athabascan clothing and other items, including bags, earrings and gloves. Softened quills can be folded, sewn, twisted, plaited and used in embroidery.
Join Koyukon artist Emma Hildebrand for a two-day workshop learning techniques for working with porcupine quills.
$30 class fee; scholarships available.
This class is supported in part by the Alaska Native Arts Foundation and the Sinew Fund.
