Textiles Close Up: The Dressed Body & Wearable Innovations – Virtual Roundtable
This online session will showcase behind-the-scenes insights into significant textile collections and exhibitions while exploring how materials, making traditions, and the dressed body continue to influence contemporary creative practice. The roundtable will also provide opportunities for audience engagement through discussion and questions.
Representatives from the Skä•noñh – Great Law of Peace Center, the Sue Ann Genet Costume Collection at Syracuse University, Cornell Fashion + Textile Collection, Cornell University’s Hybrid Body Lab, the Everson Museum of Art, and the Thousand Islands Arts Center – Home of the Handweaving Museum will share highlights from their collections, research, and current work before joining a moderated discussion exploring the role of textiles in shaping identity, culture, innovation, and lived experience. The conversation will be moderated by TSA Board member Alexa Griffith Winton, a design historian and educator whose work bridges textile studies, material culture, and cross-sector dialogue.
