All-access tour of the New-York Historical Society with lunch
Whether you are a regular or a first-time visitor, this exploration of the Society presents a rare opportunity to enjoy three distinct components of this remarkable institution:

  • Margi Hofer, Vice President and Museum Director, leads us through the recently renovated Luce Center, home to the Society’s heralded decorative arts collection, captivating interactive media, and a stunning exhibition of Tiffany glass
  • Nina Nazionale, Director of Library Operations and Curator of Printed Collections, offers a tour of her special exhibition Mapping America’s Road from Revolution to Independence, which showcases hand-drawn and engraved maps from the Society’s premier collection.
  • We also enjoy the privilege of experiencing history through a special viewing of highlights from the Gilder Lehrman Collection of prints, manuscripts, and ephemera.

Saturday, January 20

Private Tour of the Winter Antiques Show with lunch
Participants are treated to tours, led by our knowledgeable friends in the trade, as well as a visit to the Show’s special loan exhibition organized by the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Collecting for the Commonwealth/Preserving for the Nation: Celebrating a Century of Art Patronage, 1919-2018. A scrumptious lunch follows in the elegant Board of Officers Room designed by Herter Brothers.

Visit to a Private Collection
We are invited to tour the beautiful Park Avenue apartment of a Trust member whose collecting passion centers on 17th- and 18th-century ceramics, including Delft and salt-glazed and decorated creamware, and extends to early English furniture, brass, European porcelain, and drawings by Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec. We benefit from the participation and insight of Amanda Lange, ceramics expert and the Curatorial Department Director and Curator of Historic Interiors at Historic Deerfield, and Daniel Sousa, the Decorative Arts Trust Curatorial Intern at Historic Deerfield. Amanda and Dan are currently researching Deerfield’s creamware holdings for an upcoming collections catalogue.
